ID is art that deals with the design problems of manufactured objects, including problems of designing such objects with consideration for available materials and means of production, of designing products, vehicles, etc. for manufactured goods and manufactured objects.
Design Engineering is the process of developing a mathematical representation of any three-dimensional surface of an object via specialized software. The product is called a 3D model. It can be displayed as a two-dimensional image through a process called 3D rendering or used in a computer simulation of physical phenomena with the goal of collecting data that will dictate changes to the design before manufacturing. the model can also be physically created using 3D printing devices. The end goal is to use this data to create production tooling that will allow low cost mass production of your idea.
Engineering drawings are used to fully and clearly define requirements for mass production. More than merely the drawing of pictures, it’s also a graphical language that communicates ideas and information internally or from one company to another. This essential component in the process is where all materials, fits and tolerances are specified and controlled for your product.
